Square Feet: local property news sponsored by Jackson-Stops
Harry Buchanan Director, Pimlico and Westminster Sales, Jackson-Stops – 26 April 2021
Now that Spring seems to have sprung, I thought I would give you a brief update as to how the first quarter has gone for ‘us at Jackson-Stops‘ in SW1.
To fully understand the last three months it is first important to understand that the first three months of last year were the best we had on record. The press were full of the ‘Boris Bounce’, delivery of Brexit etc etc and understandably the markets reacted favourably.
So this year…. In brief – WOW!
In a little more detail…. We have out stripped last year’s figures by some 40%, we have left it for dust. Demand has been so significant, some weeks it has been hard to keep up. We have had multiple sealed bids, with another underway as I write. These are, to put it bluntly fantastic achievements and many I speak with are completely unaware of the buoyancy the property market is experiencing right now around them. Click here to download a Rightmove report for the first quarter to show our activity levels.
So what next?
If we as agents, do our homework, base our / your report on evidence and most importantly know our / ‘your’ local market then we can sustain this activity well in 2021 and beyond.
Don’t be fooled by the press, there has NOT been a mass exodus out of London, our applicant levels are strong and getting stronger by the day.
So with record transaction numbers for the first quarter and the spring market very definitely in full swing; please do get in touch if you would like to discuss how we can help. We’d love to hear from you whether you are ready to move or if you simply would like an updated marker in the sand.
With very best wishes,
Harry and the team.

Pimlico, the property sweet spot
(ES. Homes & Property article 22 October 2019)
Young professionals love a sweet spot that offers central London’s buzz but cheaper monthly rents.
Next to the river and with Victoria station and Westminster on the doorstep, Pimlico is right in the thick of it.
The area is now feeling some of the spillover effects of the massive regeneration happening in Victoria — not least the rash of new restaurants and bars that have opened there recently. Read more…
Pimlico offers homebuyers a square deal for prime central London
(Financial Times article 27 July 2017)
Belgravia’s neighbour can serve up Regency homes in a prime location — minus the prime prices.
Two-hundred years ago, Pimlico was a swamp. Raised using the spoil from the development of St Katherine’s Docks, “South Belgravia” was the brainchild of master builder Thomas Cubitt, who wanted to extend the grand stucco residencies that he had designed on Eaton and Belgrave squares down to the river.
